Spilled Milk, Restored Faith

Updated: Jan 31

Hey Y'all Hey,

I made it back for another inspiring, faith-filled blog that I pray you enjoy!

Side note: I’m super proud of myself as I sit here typing with Autumn’s head resting peacefully and heavily on my wrist.

I remember the first time I spilled breast milk on the side of my bed. I had just breastfed Autumn and was removing the Haakaa Breast Pump from my boob. I successfully set the 4oz of milk on my nightstand, and then, almost immediately, the milk spilled all over the carpet. To this day, I still don’t know how it happened, nothing was in the way of the milk. In that moment, I mumbled to myself, "Can’t cry over spilled milk." Not that I was about to cry anyway, because my milk was "milking," and I was confident I could get more next time.

Shout out to the Spectra making pumping easy!
Shout out to the Spectra making pumping easy!

I don’t know why I was excited to finally resonate with that saying. As a first-time mom, I started to reflect on what it truly meant, and maybe I was being a little extra, too (LOL). The more I thought about it, the more I realized that yes, you can cry over spilled milk - but what good is it?

Glad you asked… I now know for certain that crying over spilled milk is good for:

  • Stealing your time

  • Killing your joy

  • Destroying your confidence

It literally sounds like an enemy’s playground.

What I’ve realized is that I’ve been crying over spilled milk long before I became a mom. I remember when I published my first book No Prayer, No Power. At the height of its success, a stranger emailed me about grammatical errors. In hindsight, I didn’t realize how much that one email planted seeds of fear and doubt in me. I became overly critical of my writing and avoided it (which, unknowingly, was me crying over spilled milk) until now.

BUT GOD!

While the saying "can’t cry over spilled milk" is often used to encourage people not to dwell on mistakes that can’t be undone, God revealed to me that undone doesn’t mean unfixable. Just like I was confident I would have more milk to feed my baby, I need to keep that same confidence in knowing that God can clean up any of my spills.

A spill to God is simply a way for Him to get more glory when He cleans it up. So don’t hide your mistakes or live in regret, crying over the spills of life. Change your expectation for what God can do in spite of them.

If you’ve spilled something - whether milk, confidence, or an opportunity, it's ok. Have faith that God restore your faith, he can fix it, and even turn it into something greater than what you spilled.

I love this idiom !!

Crazy the discouragement part hit close to home I feel I haven’t put my all into my cooking business since someone didn’t like their food and harassed me about getting their money back taunting to sue me and despising their charges and writing under my posts negative things for future clients to potentially see.. you literally can’t please everyone and some people are giving you positive feedback and some people are just …there for literally build your character you take in what you need and move on ! Which I’m glad you did because a kids prayer book ?! Much needed !!! Keep going you are what some people need as a real influencer 💕

This is good, a different way of looking at things we can't control. Giving it to God the one who is in control of everything and can work things out for the good of them that loves him.
