Hey Y'all Hey,
Last month I celebrated my birthday - my second one as a wife, and my first one as a mom! It was a great day spent with family and some time self reflecting. As the celebrations came to an end, I felt a strong conviction to make a change in my business and follow my calling (what a gift!).
What happened was, as I reflected on the recent transitions in my life - getting married, and throwing a baby in the mix, "wooosahhhh" is all I can say. I’ve been unlearning and purging habits of mine that I don’t want my baby to pick up. One habit in particular: sitting on the passions God has placed inside of me. This led me to take inventory of the things I still want to pursue, and also let go of things I’m no longer connected to. That’s when Advised By Amber, LLC kept lingering in my spirit.
My business, as I once knew it, was changing before my eyes. When I started my business, I focused on helping students get scholarships for college through helping them write personal statements. That grew into offering career services like resume writing. Eventually, I added faith-based life coaching and book publishing to the party. Over time, Advised By Amber felt a bit all over the place because, well, it kinda was! My business was birthed from things I was naturally good at - encouraging people to live out their dreams and giving them the tools to do so. And it worked. In fact, on my birthday I received this unexpected text from a previous client, it really reminded me of the impact of the work I’ve done:
I’m so grateful for all the clients who trusted me with their dreams - your faith in me helped grow my faith in myself.
But after my birthday, I realized that while I am talented at scholarship writing and resumes, that's not what God has truly called me to do. So, as I turn the page on another year, I’m also turning the page on my business. I’m revamping things to align with my calling as a faith-based writer and business coach with the goal of encouraging people to live their faith out.
So, What is next for Advised By Amber?
I will continue offering book publishing services.
I will continue writing books (with a new one coming soon!).
I will start writing faith-based movies and TV shows.
I will start working with businesses to help bring "Christ to Corporate" as a faith-based business coach.
All of this is happening in real time. The business coaching stems from my work with clients who succumb to toxic corporate cultures, often leaving Christ at the door. I’ve seen firsthand how a lack of a faith-friendly work environment negatively impacts people, leaving them stressed, mean and struggling to find purpose at work. I am committed to addressing this root issue by empowering – and somewhat challenging – business leaders to integrate faith-based principles into their leadership styles, company culture, and decision-making, ultimately improving morale and fostering growth.
I’m also diving into the world of scriptwriting, bringing a fresh perspective on faith-based films (in a non cheesy way)! This has been a hidden interest of mine that God is now pulling to the forefront! I’m really diving into this new space - no formal scriptwriting experience or education, no big connections, just my faith. I am excited for you to be a part of this journey as a witness to what I know God can do.
If you know Tyler Perry or DeVon Franklin, tell them to invite me to the writers’ table (or is it a writers’ room? I don’t even know, just plug ya girl! LOL). But seriously, I am looking for an experienced mentor in the industry for guidance, if you have someone in mind or know of a program for beginners, let me know!
